Amnesia Dark Descent

I've seen it for as low as £3.25 and it's often on sale. I wouldn't buy if for full price (~£12.99?)

The point is, it's WORTH £12.99, in fact it's worth far more than that.

The developers deserve it.

I was playing this again today actually and it still makes me scream. It's an utterly terrifying game even on repeated playthroughs.

It's probably the only game that genuinely does instill fear as an actual emotion; other games just have some tension or some boo moments here and there. Amnesia is actually a frightening game to play.

Yep, that's how it works so well. It's not just jump scares or orchestrated frights. This game inspires genuine FEAR and sheer panic.

I really dont want to play this game, i was on the DEMO earlier, with a FRIEND in a BRIGHTLY LIT room and ALCOHOL, and i was still ****ting myself .. :(

Yet at the same time, i really want to play it, i just have to try and conquer my fear of it :(

That's an interesting comment, and you're right. Even at 1p I'm reluctant to buy something which I know I'll only enjoy when I've escaped. And yet I feel less of a man for refusing to confront my fears.

In which case... pass the handbag, I'm going shopping for shoes.

Downloaded the demo just now and gave it a blast! Seemed ok till the bit where you have to jump from box box and avoid the water which seemed like i was back in 1995 playing a PS1 game! I want scary action/survival not a platformer!

That's a very small part of the game, it's certainly nothing like a platformer. It's not really action either. I'd say it was adventure/horror/survival/puzzle, in regards to genre.

That's easily the weakest part of the game and luckily it only lasts 5 minutes or so.

Hmmm probably me nit picking on that part, but I really don't like the fact that you have to pretty much rush through the game cos if you run out of oil or tindersticks that's it! Just feels like having a glorified timer and the oil is extended time! part of survival horror is taking your time to immerse your self not rush through.

Do you not continue on though if you run out of oil or other things? I think you'd crap bricks a lot more if that was the case.

Even from the youtube videos... it sends a chill down my spine.

The only game I've played where I would say I was genuinely terrified at times. The atmosphere is incredible.
