I have started to build out a gaming section for my retro stuff, a work in progress. It's neither flash or high end, but I do have the need to plug many devices into 1 source and then route that to a TV and some speakers. I am perhaps looking at something older here as ideally I would like something that can take HDMI, SCART, SVIDEO, Digital and Composite inputs in volume, then fire them out maybe via HDMI, SCART and SVIDEO into my Framemeister, whilst transferring the sound to a pair of speakers too!

So, what can I do, am I on a road to nowhere? Budget is what it needs to be but cheaper the better and perfectly happy to go old school (read 2nd hand) if needs be.

How about an old AV receiver that has S video inputs, Phono/RCA video inputs, Hdmi inputs etc
And has S-video output, Phono Video output, HDMI output

You could also tried a Scart to HDMI adaptor like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Olrick-108...=8-2&keywords=scart+plug+to+vhs+converter#Ask
Or you could tried a scart to phono adaptor

That's the sort of thing, but is that going to cost me 2K or something as frankly, even with my flash socks, is a lot of money to make a NES sound good :D

Looks like them Av receivers sell for under £100 on ebay going by completed listings ;)

But I only posted a picture of that amp as an example of something you could use.
Doesn't need to be that exact one just pick any AV receiver that has the inputs & outputs your looking for..

For what you need the older AV receivers that included HDMI as well as Component / S-Video / composite video and a whole raft of goodies with video cross-conversion (format to format) as well as up-conversion (SD to HD) would be right up your street. As others have said, AV receivers don't have SCART sockets - they just take up too much room for a start - but with adapters and converters it's possible to handle SCART's version of composite video and even RGBs converted to Component.

I've got a Yamaha RX-V1800 sitting in a box unused at the moment. This ex-£1000 receiver is hugely powerful (130W) which means it can handle pretty much any speakers you throw at it. You could have lots of fun with some big inexpensive floorstanders :D Middlewich......Staffordshire......Middlewich......Staffordshire.....Hmm ;)

I use a modern AV receiver, a Denon AX2300 for PC, modern and retro consoles. PC and modern consoles I just use HDMI. For retro I have them connected to an AV SCART switch box to my CRT TV. I then run stereo RCA cable from TV to AV receiver.

So basically you run the stereo RCA OUT from your TV to the stereo RCA in on the AV receiver.

As said, you can pick up decent used AV receivers for less than £100.

How much you want?

It would be a little bit more than the Denon because it's a better amp, but I'd bring it to your door and help you get set up.

Better a sure thing than chasing ifs and maybes on Ebay then worrying if the courier will destroy it en route.

Send me a trust message to discuss further if you're interested.
