AmpliTube 3 and Xonar D2 Wow

I use a line 6 guitar port, but it's no longer supported :(

Was looking for an alternative, but this looks costly with so many different sounds to buy as addons.

I considered Line 6 when I was looking for an effects pedal, but I read their support isn't great. I was also looking at getting a Line 6 Variax guitar, but that also doesn't seem to get support with lots of complaints about issues not being resolved. Suppose it's OK as long as nothing breaks.

Yeah just use one of these

I have 2 x Tyler Variax JTV-59s with absolutely no problems.
I also have a Line 6 POD HD500 but it's too early to judge it yet but teh guy before me had it for over a year with no problems.
Just remember that if you take the amount of people complaining it is a minor % of the total sold.

Yeah you gave me the idea in the first place! :D

I was so close to buying one before Christmas since they had a rebate special going. But then after researching them it seemed their forums are dead. I'm also concerned about what happens when the batteries die. They can only have a limited number of charges right? So in 10 years you might not be able to use the batteries and you will have to use it as a regular guitar, but it will have some electronics inside which you can't use and then the knobs on it won't do anything.

That would bug me a bit I think. The vids on youtube look awesome though with all the effects you can do.

So buy new batteries.
When plugged into the POD500 it doesn't need batteries anyway because that charges it.
I don't know what you mean about the forums are dead because I'm on every day - http://line6.com/support/community/support/instruments/jtv?view=all

Ah cool, I found some black forum that looked different and there was nothing much there. I was trying to talk myself out of getting one since I'm actually fine with my Epi. I see they have a P-90 version of the 59 out now. That's the one I was going to get after I saw that pic of the 2 you have.

I've tried Guitar Rig, Podfarm and Amplitube.

Guitar Rig does it for me (that Dimebag preset, shweet) but whilst Amplitube does sound more realistic I haven't really felt the need to turn to it to actually record some decent parts. Fun to play with, my jaw was on the floor at first too. Having said that the bass sounds are quite awesome.

Podfarm I think is a bit meh, but also there are some killer bass sounds/presets on it.

Don't know what the deal is with zero latency but I don't notice any latency with my Line 6 £30 PoS, even if it's a couple of ms (which arguably you'd get anyway if you were playing through an amp, it doesn't instantly hit your ears).

I had a play with this at the weekend.
For someone who knows all about amps and sound settings this is probably a wet dream!

For someone like me, who hasn't a clue about amps and settings it's too much, i want to go in a select a tone for a band or a song and be done with it.

I can download tones for individual songs for my guitar port. Other people have fine tuned and uploaded for the community.
It's a pity as it does sound amazing!
