Amstrad - Fan Shutdown A Wise Move ?

Just been reading the below article about Amstrad, is this a wise and legal move that they can do?

Would be interested to know if I should follow their advise and turn off the fan on my PC?

I thought these were fairly crucial to a safe operations.

no problem but i dont think anyone will be worried about not having warranty on a 20+ year old Amstrad PC lol
