Amusing Logo Issue

I find the funnier part of it the fact that they paid £14k to just have someone put 3 letters together in a plain font

My uni did that a few years ago. Paid thousands and thousands for a new logo and they came up with this:

this lil bit from the above link put a smile on my face(i got a childish sense of humor at times) "and it is not inappropriate to an organisation that’s looking to have a firm grip":D

I am baffled to how our society has actually survived, there are people who have to go around countless streets picking up peoples trash every day of the week, people who slave for years to become doctors and keep us healthy, each do vital work for us to function as a country... yet anyone with wordpad and enough know-how to change the colour of the text could be earning stupid amounts of money.

That's shockingly bad, why can't they just ask people in the company to design them a logo? 14k for a 5 second job (and a rubbish one at that) is staggering.

Talking of waste of monies, I heard my Uni spent 50,000 on rebranding from:

to this:

This one comes in about 7 different colours!

 all the tuition fees that could have been wavered for that money!

You people are very naive about the design industry.

If you all clearly feel you're in the wrong industry, join the thousands of underpaid and jobless designers with outstanding capabilities but no decent contacts or recognition. You'll soon find yourself stressed and working a boring daytime retail job and 'working' freelance on every job you can find even when people are asking you to do it for free, you'll be stuffed then.

edit: J.B - I really like that logo, it's clever mixing the whitespace against the colours. You do know unis are rolling it in because they are primarily businesses, therefore want to attract as many people as possible, tuition fees lol, giving away free money?

The problem is not the design company, it will be the government ministers who chose the final design. The design company will probably have designed loads of different designs, with different colours and fonts etc, then presented them to the client. A manager with absolutely no creativity will then have chosen a 'nice and simple' logo. As long as the design company get their money, they won't mind which one was picked.
