Amusing restaurant bill. Priceless.

But what possible reason is there to give her money?

I wasn't aware she was after cash. A free meal seems reasonable in the circumstances and no one would argue with the owner giving some cash to charity (as he offered), but no it's not a court case jobby.

A free meal? So they can spit in it for destroying the restaurants rep?!

She added: "I'd like a written apology from the restaurant and I'd also like some compensation.

Really? Honest? Stupid woman. Oh no! I insulted her. Maybe I should send her my details so she can sue me too.

They've offered a free meal. Accept that but don't accept money.

Good 'ole Spain!

I hate the compensation culture but in this case after getting your meal 2 hours late and then being insulted into the bargain I think more than just an apology is in order. The 10% service charge at least.

Nah they just shouldn't have to pay the bill at all and never go back there.

I don't see why people have a problem with compensation in this instance. They ruined her night. Cost of night = cost of meal and thus she shouldn't have to pay for the meal. The compensation should be a refund on her meal (at the least (I'd expect an apology and for the guy to get sacked as well)) not the offer of another terrible night out.

But they did for whatever reason and now in hindsight obviously think they made a bad decision and I can't blame them. I don't really understand the offer to donate the bill to charity though, it wasn't the charity receiving shocking service. The offer of the the free meal is fair enough but who would want to go back there? The logical way forward is an apology and some form of compensation/refund even if like I said it is just the service charge and drinks. They would probably have bought twice or even thrice the number of drinks due to the long wait and poor service.
