An alternative to Greece

You will find the cheapest way to get to greece is a package holiday with flight and accommodation. Choose a nice area and rent a car. I recommend Elounda on Crete. Nice and quite, some bars but not too many drunken British

Oh yeah and to put a spanner in the works neither of us drive! :D

Agreed. I am very fon of both Crete and Rhodes. From Rhodes if you really want to get away from it all you could get the boat to Symi and stay there instead.

Zante is a good destination , airport a bit small but i went to see the turtles took the exmissus a few years ago and bumted into more single girls you could shake you know what at :) . Really recommened lots to do and preferred it to the dominican republic wich i thought was a waste of a journey and money in comparrison . :D

Not too touristy in some areas
Lots of history and culture
Hot and in the med
Nice countryside
Crete or Cyprus I reckon :)

Turkey? Never been but Istanbul is on my list of "must-visit" places.
Why on earth would you do that to yourself?

Yup, that's the cheapest way. Crete is a big island with a lot of things to do!

Yeah Crete is a pretty nice place loads of history and things to see, or if you want a larger fueled night with kebab and sick, check out Malia its more english than blackpool.

Or Elounda or Stallis for the more cultured.

Turkey is a **** hole. Croatia may be worth a try.

Depends where you go really,

Side on the South coast is great, hardly any british at all and the Turks really do treat you well when your there. As mostly they've gotta put up with arsey Germans shouting at them and being really rude.

Its pretty much a Dutch and German resort but lots toTurkish go there on hol's too. It'd deffo go again. Great beach and nightlife full of friendly people and great for shopping for fake goods. Also its really historic and full of old ruins and stuff like that.

Thomas Cook do it I think.

Just a slight update, at the moment we are erring towards Sardinia and the city of Alghero, it seems to tick all the right boxes and be nice and cheap at the moment. £50 flights and £150 accom. in a resonable hotel for 4 nights.

Although we are pretty set at the moment we are still looking around. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Not that its a good idea to form an opinion of a country based on Hollywood films, but the protagonist in midnight express was actually a drug smuggler, so as long as you don't do any of that, you'll be alright ;)

based on true story that film.
