Eh up

Just a quick enquiry really im out of the loop nowadays :/

Is it possible to get a decent mobo nowadays to run a higher end chip with an AGP slot?

My PC is playing up and its time to upgrade to a better spec, thing is ive just bought an AGP X1950 pro :/

Could some kind soul spec me a bundle deal or a roundabout price for what i should be looking for

TIA

well if your on a tight budget & hellbent on keeping AGP then ide say go with:

Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard £43.46 inc VAT click me

Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.20GHz (800FSB) - Retail £90.46 inc VAT click me

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300C4 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC) £41.11 inc VAT click me

those 3 together will set you back £175 which'll let you keep your AGP card for a fair while longer, just bare in mind Asrock mobo's aren't exactly known for being great clockers.

You could easly sell your agp gfx card and get the equivalant pci-e card.

you should get a fair price for it and the pci-e version is cheaper.

this way it opens up your options on gfx cards, and motherboards

If you were willing or able to sell off your AGP X1950pro then I'd go for something like the below system.

Intel Core 2 Duo E2160 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail £42.99
(£50.51) £42.99
(£50.51)
OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £69.99
(£82.24) £69.99
(£82.24)
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) £41.99
(£49.34) £41.99
(£49.34)
EVGA nForce 650i Ultra (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (122-CK-NF66-T1) £49.99
(£58.74) £49.99
(£58.74)
Sub Total : £204.96

Thanks dudes, dont really want to sell the gfx, cba with the bother tbh

The spec above is the kind of thing im looking at but with an AGP slot

Thanks anyway dudes :)

The ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 as suggested does everything you want then, swap it in for the EVGA and it would work fine. What is your current Ram? You may not even need to buy more. :)
