Well if we have people coming with their girls/guys (er....) we can have first day sightseeing, then second and third day we can have two groups of sightseeing, then meeting in the night and going clubbing.

I'm going to Amsterdam in mid-April and not interested in drugs or paying for sex.

I plan to visit the Amsterdam Arena, home of Ajax FC. Go to Europes largest casino and also go clubbing.

So there is plenty of stuff to do.
 
I really don't see the problem with fragmented groups. I don't smoke **** anymore (havent for a few years). I went to amsterdam with a few smoking buddies during my smoking days, and we felt more than comfortable splitting into 2 groups: Those who wanted to smoke and prowl the red light district, and those who didnt. In reality there's only so much time you can spend oggling the window ladies/shows and smoking **** before you decided to see some of amsterdam. This is when the 2 groups meet :).

Folks, please don't give any reference to drug taking or prostitutes, whether that is your bag or not.

It will be a laugh if it comes off, but for the record I will certainly not be partaking in any of them, it will be a drink and a giggle thing for me.

I know it may sound prudish to some, but this is a family forum after all and should be respected as such. This is not a go at anyone. :)
 
Just got back the other weekend.. Went with my wife and a few friends.

I'm no prude and I' m very broadminded to say the least but i thought the place was a dirt hole.. Sorry to be blunt.

Don't fancy going back. That said, it was an experiance and we had a giggle at the girls and stuff.

I spent 7 nights in Amsterdam with some mates last year and I think I agree with Huddy really.

"Grotty" is definitely the word I'd use to describe most of Amsterdam (the Jordaan or however you spell it is a lovely area though, and the Oosterpark or however you spell that is great too). When you come out of your hostel in the morning and see someone dealing smack out to someone on a piece of tin foil at 10 in the morning in broad daylight it's not particularly pleasant... I had a lot of fun in Amsterdam but it's not really a place I'd want to go back to anytime soon (although I do really want to see the Rijkmuseum).
 
I knew that when I started this thread that there would be an issue with the reasons why people would or wouldn't want to go to Amsterdam. I picked Amsterdam as it is only a hop, skip and jump across the water and the flights can be bought cheaply enough if you book far enough in advance. I just thought that it would make the meet seem more like a wee mini holiday if we were all in another country :(
There are people who have been before and have stated that they have no interest in the 'seedier' side of the Dam but who liked the country, and it would really seem a shame if those people didn't want to attend because they didn't want to spend their time in a group who did turn up just to partake in the naughty stuff and vice versa.
Maybe I should have made it clearer in my original post to what it was that I was looking for when starting this thread, but as I've already said I knew a whole can of worms would be opened up and there would be lots of people asking a lot of questions.
So, if you could (regardless of why others would want to go there) would you go to Amsterdam to meet up with fellow Oc'ers for a weekend :confused:
(Again it all comes down to timing and money for just about everyone).
As aunty von has already mentioned please keep your replies free of any naughty bits (you all know what I mean) and let's see if we can get some kind of idea as to whether or not this would work ;)
Would I travel to Amsterdam to meet other members off of these forums? Yes I would. I can't say when I could do it, but if I thought I could get time off of work and have plenty of notice for when it was taking place then I would most certainly be interested :D

Maybe a poll on the destination alone would give us all a better idea on the proportion of members willing to give it a go, or I could just get a little list going and update it as people say yes or no :confused:

Oh, one other thing that I forgot to mention was that this would definatly be for the over 18's only.
 
the musiems in amsterdam are AMAZING, ann franks house was poop.
the whole place is REALY cool.
 
22 by then, going 30th of june(big dance event), maybe tempted again as i will have nothing else to do over the summer.
