A couple of days ago i remember waking up (per say) and i couldn't open my eyes or move. It seemed as though my mind was awake but my body was not, i would try to move my arms and could barely do so. This only lasted around 10 seconds, and reflecting back it was a rather scary experience, a bit like being paralysed i presume. This has happened before, though rarely.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

Yup, it's perfectly normal. As far as I'm aware, your body paralyses itself when you sleep and sometimes this can carry on for a short while after your mind awakens.

Even better is when you get an out of body experience because of it. Mind blowing stuff

Or perhaps you were still sleeping and you dreamt you were awake before you actually were..............

If your body paralyses itself when you sleep how come a lot of people have the tendancy to move around or kick about in their sleep?

Someone told me that it stops when you start having sex regularly.

Not that I'd know..

Yeah i jump around like a cat on a hot tin roof according to my girlfriend when i sleep.

Its SP and as far as i know, it only happend in the REM stage of the sleep.

You can kick and move in the other stages of sleep (deep sleep)

SP is also used for Lucid Dreaming. Now if you want a really life changing experience then i would suggest Lucid dreaming

So far i've had 6, and they are simply amazing.

Id love to wake up with someone sat on my chest :D

not for me...:(

i remember trying to get my GF's attention while in sleep paralysis, i was using every ouce of energy to shout and move but according to her i was just laying there blinking, i think it freaked her out a bit

i get it about 3 times a week up to 6-7 times a night sometimes, i always force myself to wake up though before the freaky hallucinations kick in :o

Any way to provoke these sort of things? The only weird thing i've had when waking up was when I slept on my arm and it was totally dead :p I was looking at it like wtf is this and slapping it, then it went all warm and slowly came alive :p
