im simply curious about this... a friend of mine has said he can see further in BF2 with his SLI enabled than with just a single card... i was wondering how this was possible  surely what you see should be the same with 1 or with 2 cards ??? just simply the speed with which its renderd would be faster ?? i.e. higher fps...

otherwise having SLI is kind of like cheating surely ?

I think all that was happening is that BF2 was setting the graphics higher due to having SLI. That would make the draw distance longer or further. ;)

when i jump out of a jet i can see for READ THE RULES , NO SWEARING & THAT INCLUDES DISGUISED SWEARING miles in sli and with the same setting as one card all i see is cloud ?????

Is the draw distance increased by SLi, or could a high end card such as the X1900 yield the same effect?

Its basically cos SLi would generally have more graphics power than a single card; that is, after all, the whole point of it. In that case, you're able to max your settings out (hypothetically) and probs increase your max view distance.

but you can max out the settings for bf2 on a 7600GT, surely your draw distance is set by the game ??? and as such anyone with a hafl decent ammount of power should be able to accomplish the same... so why is he seeing such a difference with 1 7800GT compaired to running 2...

i tried a 7300 gt for a laugh and i saw as far as 1 7800 gt but i gotta say sli makes a hell of a difference, i can snipe u and u cant even see me hahahah

incase anyone didnt know... this guys the guy with the far seeing SLI rig that i mentioned in my first post... :D

I have been wondering this also recently, playing a lot of BF2 and I don't think my 7800Gt (OC) can cut it,..even though I turned the vision distance up to 100%.....I wonder if it turns it down in game ?
Dam you uber snipers :p

I've gotta say BF2 looks pretty amazing at full settings etc on my 1900, and i'd say I can see pretty damn far, i'd like to see some sort of screenshot comparision to back up this story :p

i have two 7300gt's and i can concur - you can see for miles and miles and miles....

But that should be the same with any high end card ?

Offtopic

is the new 2012 version worth getting ?

i dont think one card cuts it at all in fact i h8 playing bf2 in single gpu mode

I was going to SLi my set up, but the slots are very close together on my mobo, heat has been an issue all summer with a single card so two would be a nightmare...going to change to the fastest single card solution I can afford. ;)

ye i solved that problem with my messhed case, if i get time later i'll put up some screenies and ** all be buying another card sli or crossfire! my system pulls over 12000 3d marks 05

The view distance thing on BF2 is annoying, Maxed out with my X1950 i can't see as far as i should be able to
