an SLI + BF2 question...

What the ****

How do you know ATi's X1800 , X1900, X1950 cards arn't any good...

I seem to remember a lot of XFX Cards dying, I can't remember that happened for ATi this year..

A better card does not increase the view distance.

View distance is set as a slider in the video options. You can set it to 100% for whatever card you have. You can have low video settings with 100% distance or high settings with 100% distance - both will have the same view distance.

With a better card or an SLi set up you can crank up the resolution - this will enable you to resolve targets better from distance and will improve your sniping.

my normal penis is huge m8 and dont buy that ati crap, x1800 and ** x1900 have been ***** come to the darkside "Invidia"

rob... do not start this otherwise you will be literally beaten by 1000 keyboard warriors all of whom owned 7900GT`s that screwed up within the first 5 days of owning them, then you will be treated to another 1000 angrey people who were owners or the FX5800 and FX5900 / ultra...

and then you will be bombarded with web links to the 19 page in depth report conducted by X-bit labs into image quality of Nvidia v ATi in which ATi demolished the competition in pretty much every area.

p.s. edit your sweary before a mod sends you on a week long holiday ;) all swear words need to be fully starred out, lest someone makes baby jesus cry.

yes you can manually set the Draw distance in the video settings tab, I currently have it set to 100%, however, It still draws objest as you approach them, hence the problem.

Perhaps it is a function of what GPU power is avaliable, BF2 will let you set 100% view didstance but in reality it doesn't necessarily draw all of the stuff in...I find it most odd and frustrating, as I can often miss peopl lying down in the medium distance as the detail hasn't been drawn yet,..however if they have a good spec they can see me before I even get close.

as standard with a single card bf2 sets the draw distance at around 75% im sure this guy did not check the settings before and after enabling sli

100% draw distance does not draw 100% of what is in front of you. It is just 100% of what the game will allow you to see, so yes things will still be rendered 'out of nowhere' as you appoach them.

Resolution being equal, if both you and your opponent have 100% draw distance on you will both see each other at the same time - if you are looking directly at each other. This is irregardless of video card.

I have noticed that the draw distance is actually further in the periphery of your feild of view. So you will see things at a further distance when you do not look directly at them.

You can try this and see for yourself.

Trilogy are you trying to get banned or suspended, because if you carry on insulting people and swearing in posts its going to happen very soon indeed

Back when I had my old system, 6800Ultra, I was messing around on a 6player lan with a few friends.

He had a 7800GTX.
Friend could see me and snipe me but I could not see him >_<.
Both had settings at 100% Draw distance.

Now I've got a new pc I have not been able to try it out.
But I damned better see as far as anyone else if I set it at 100%, even if I do lose fps off my already high one.. :X
