An update on Radeon R9 290X variance

So the performance in uber mode was so close they didnt even have to plot them. So why post the original tripe on there website in the first place when they surely knew that already.
I think the real issue is the fact that people dont seem to understand the workings of the new powertune or the bios switch.

THe real question is why did they put up numbers for each test(no percentage differences) then claim 5-10% and finally conclude that 290x buyers will lose up to 10% performance... when the slowest review card was slower than the fastest retail card, and the fastest review vs fastest retail was an average 3% difference, never even reaching 5%.

I never loved tech report, but that lost absolutely any respect at all I had for them, making up numbers in an article pushed for by Nvidia, cards paid for by Nvidia.... usually then followed up by increased advertising income from Nvidia......

I find it hilarious that Nvidia paid for the cards and TheTechReport made no qualms about telling people this and yet, everyone seemed to miss that point. Nvidia trolling AMD is what I read.

I'm surprised people do not understand the difference between Quiet and Uber mode, especially a Tech site like Tech Report.

Conveniently forgot all about Uber mode giving max performance, just like a lot of folks here.:o

Its even more disturbing when you realise Nvidia bought the cards for them and went to them to write the article.

It's just another Nvidia smear attack, they are getting predictable now, that's what happens when your competitor forces your hand to reduce ridiculous pricing.:p

so the only news here is they suck at doing tests?
Scott Wasson = that guy you ignore in the chatroom until his trolling *** goes away :p

Sure would be nice if AMD did an official press release on this 'issue'!

I think they have better things to do like concentrate on replenishing their sellout gpu's ;):

The Nvidia smear campaign is going to need an almighty sized jar of peanut butter to cover up major demand for AMD gpu's due to the mining sensation.

WOW it only took 240 SECONDS to sell a 7950 in the MM@full asking.

You just know someone somewhere is running them in stock quiet mode without a clue otherwise (maybe a newbie friendly system build from a retailer or that newb you occasionly come accross who has these epic components with no idea how to use them) which is slightly annoying but oh well.

Sort of like my gf buying a freeview HD box the other day to see if HD is an improvement, then connecting it with a scart cable and having the cheek to say "there's no difference" to which you immediately think "you're doing it wrong!". Yes, I know someone, somewhere, has picked up a freeview hd box from a tesco shelf and connected it to a 60+" 1080p tv with a scart cable, but I try not to think about it.
