Fatal1ty an8 sli, 7800gtx, 2gb ballistix tracer, 3700 san diego

had this set up for quite a while now and i'm still having problems, although the new bios has made it better, it still doesn't seem to be quite right

90% of the time when i turn it on it won't boot and the graphics card fan just spins, and i have to reset it, then its perfectly stable most of the time

is this likely to be a motherboard issue or the graphics card

also i've heard about problems with the 1gb ballistix sticks, could this be a cause or do you think i have more than one problem??

def the mem i could not even boot mine with 2gb in take one out and it will be fine but you cant run 2gig anyway not even in 2t get what iv got or the pc 4000 mushkin redline :)

hope this helps you

Massey, listen to us: Try Greener's RAM, if that sorts it then you know it's the RAM. Then you can buy some OCZ PC3200 and be happy. Look, I'll bring some of mine tomorrow so you can try that.

EDIT: forget that, greener says you get his tomorrow.

i recently have had similar problems with my board but to a lesser degree. Usually it happens after a reset it does the same as you describe then i reset again and its fine. my board overvolts and i reckon its probably cooked itself over time! Thinking or rma ing but £12 fee and its time without my sytem!
Let me know if you get yours sorted. cheers ;)

Hmm i havnt experiance the same problem as you.

Ive experianced something similar though.. My pc wouldn't boot with 2GB of ram @ 1T, But it boots at 2T...

But then sometimes it would boot on 1T lol, then just randomly turn off :S

My board also overvolts ever so slightly.

Tried different memory, and it was definitely more stable than with ballistix, but still won't boot every time

Think i'll RMA it and see if i can get my money back on the ballistix as when i got it their memory selector said it was compatoble with the an8 Fatal1ty board

Any other suggestions?

think its just the board. I recently switched my setup onto a gigabyte k8nxpsli and everything was fine.

got some more details now involving the POST code display thingy on the board

when it stops on initial power up it displays code 52 (Test all memory (clear all extended memory to 0))

when ideling it displays 22, but no definition is given

when i run prime95, 3dmark or any other game it changes between 22 and 27 constantly, does this mean anything more and does anyone elses board display these codes

27 = (initialize INT 09 buffer)

think i'm definitely sending it back, definitely sounds like the board has problems!
