Analogue 3D

There's potentially also the moral angle to consider with Modretro. I generally try to keep away from the politics, but I note they are quite a bit behind their release schedule.
Yeah definitely. Owners aside, I am sure Robert will do a good job, but I don't like the look of the console.

I'm in two minds re how I feel about the design of the console, however I am intrigued regarding the controller and how well it performs. Guess we'll need to wait and see.

Yeah the controller looks decent. The A3D 8Bitdo controller is supposed to be really good. Personally, I have been using the N64 Nintendo Online controller for the Switch and it has been really good, I haven't notice any lag or issues.

I hate the nob on the M64, the whole console looks fisher price compared to the original hardware and A3D. Analogue have smashed it with the hardware and software on this one.

I think I'll try the 8bitdo controller in the meantime. I still have original N64 controllers but my three-pronged claw technique is rusty and ive always wanted to try a more traditional-stype controller with the N64. I did this with the Dreamcast and it was a revelation!

The 8bitdo 64 controller is excellent, obviously doesn't feel like playing on the N64 three pronged but when you're used to modern controller design it is a nice fit.

Agree about the owners of modretro being shady though.

I'd have picked up an 8bitdo controller if I didn't already own the Nintendo Online ones. Analogue adding support for them has been ace. It is awesome being able to sit on the sofa, turn on the A3D via the controller and play wirelessly.

What's the SD card slot for?
It comes with no controllers and is $330?

Wouldn’t it be cheaper buying a real N64 bundle from eBay for around £70 with 2 controllers and then EverDrive-64 X7 ($159)

Firmware updates and library related features now including save states (which you cannot do with an Everdrive). It would be cheaper, but the Analogue 3D does improve on image quality. Native HDMI output at 4K, bluetooth controller support, excellent CRT filters and easy access to remove AA/Deblur etc. You can also play in overclocked modes for better performance. Analogue always release quality products but have outdone themselves with this one.

You can save and a lot more with the EverDrive X7 - https://krikzz.com/our-products/cartridges/ed64x7.html

I get the 4k enhanced, but for that cost it appears to be better to just go full original with an EverDrive. They you get OG controllers too.

Any clue what the SD card slot's for?

The ED64 X7 can save, but doesn't have saves states.

As for the SD card, at the moment, firmware updates and library features including savestates (edit: and cart labels). I suspect it saves your per game settings in terms of filters etc. Also Gamepak saves. No ROM loading or 'jailbreak' at present.
