Any reason why Analytics would be saying I've been referred by Google whenever I go directly onto my website? It's making visitor tracking rather annoying.

For example, my homepage is in my bookmarks. Yesterday I clicked it 3 times. Then on Analytics it's claiming 3 visitors came from Google using the phrase 'Ryan Findlay'. However, if you check the visitor details, it's ME and I never went near Google.

Very odd, it's been happening for months.

I imagine you aren't doing something silly like going to a referral 'Im feeling lucky' search link.

Have you tried typing the address in directly and doing it from another PC?

Nope, I Googled myself about 2 months ago, that's it.

When I type ryanfindlay.co.uk into my browser, it still registers me as if I were coming from Google. I haven't tried it on another machine.

What does it say in your server access logs (cPanel etc should give you access to them)?

If Google has stored a cookie recording that the "first" time you accessed your site was a Google referral (from when you searched yourself), it might be recording subsequent requests as having the same source?

Try clearing all your cookies and making absolutely sure your next visit comes as a direct access and not a search. A browser such as Chrome can make this less obvious than you might think!
