Ancelloti Everton new manager

I dare not believe it until he's on the OS holding a scarf!

But...

I can't help but be excited!

Everybody will wet themselves with excitement because of his name but I can't see Ancelloti being Everton manager at the start of the 21/22 season. He's not somebody that builds a club or transforms a side. He's somebody that's excelled at managing superstars, literally speaking. He's the guy a PSG, Real or City bring in when the previous manager can't handle the egos in the squad, not somebody trying to break into the top 6 appoints.

I reckon he will do well, save Everton from relegation then leave once job done.

I don’t see him staying long at Everton, they aren’t a big name team for him.

Arsenal have missed a trick here.

Yes, Carlo isn't the most ideal manager to build a squad, but he's a vastly experienced top level manager - he'd cope fine.

Arteta is just a complete random gamble, it's not like he was even at Arsenal that long, nor was he even particularly good for them.

Agreed, you think of Arteta and you think of Everton and his great partnership with Cahill. Not his Arsenal years.

As got brought up on Sky, Moshiri wanted a 'Hollywood' manager (Koeman obviously didn't work out) and they have Usmanov in the background; it might not be an A-list team but there's a lot of money behind them now and the dodgy Russian can have clout in a way he wasn't able to when he was neutured at Arsenal despite having a chunk of shares - I'm sure they'll be some good 'incentives' for Carlo to put pen to paper, likely more lucrative than anything Kroenke and co. would offer or have offered if they even put feelers out there.

Has he actually been confirmed yet?

It is a strange one but with the money they've spent recently they're probably thinking they need to throw some at a manager but as others have mentioned he's not really one you would expect to do a long term building job for Everton.

He didn’t do so well at Napoli if they sacked him off, what are they?? 9th in the league at the moment??

It would have been nice to have him at Arsenal but he’s short term, not long term which is what we are probably looking for.

Im willing to give Arteta the benefit of the doubt if we do appoint him. Much like I gave Emery the benefit of the doubt when he was appointed.

I heard that Emery turned Everton down or so the rumours are

It will be interesting to see who finishes higher in league Everton or arsenal if you get arteta
I also read the rumour emery turned Everton down

At this moment with the way our midfield and defence is, I’d expect us to finish in the bottom half of the table. That’s with or without Arteta, it’s going to be a tough battle for him to get back competing but then new manager syndrome so might get some good results going and get us back into the top half of the table. At the very least the eulolpa places.

I’m being overly cautious with what I’m expecting from Arteta lol.

Same as us need midfielders and another striker

I think he will be great at Everton. He guided Napoli to second in Serie A and they are hardly a big club in Italy really. More akin to Everton in many respect.s

Napoli finished 2nd the season prior to that too though and with much more points, very nearly winning the title. In fact they finished 2nd, 3rd and 2nd again in the 3 seasons prior, collecting more points than they did last season.
