Ancelloti Everton new manager

Yes, Napoli have been one of the strongest sides in Serie A for the past 4 seasons and the only consistent challenger to Juventus across that period, and also one of Europe's most entertaining sides for good measure. Last season's total under Ancelotti was their lowest since 2014-15 and this season they have imploded. Their league performance in comparison to available talent is atrocious.

There have been some changes, but certainly no upheaval. They are a shadow of the Sarri side that regularly showed such verve and panache.

Napoli finished 2nd the season prior to that too though and with much more points, very nearly winning the title. In fact they finished 2nd, 3rd and 2nd again in the 3 seasons prior, collecting more points than they did last season.

They are still not a massive club in Italy though. More a well managed one which gives you hope for Ancelotti doing a decent job.

They're bigger relative to Everton in the PL but that's beside the point. He inherited a very good Napoli side, a Napoli side that had just pushed Juve all the way for the title. You actually worded your post very well, 'he guided' them, he didn't build them into that side. Ancelloti's somebody that guides teams along the way, not builds and transforms.

Everton have just confirmed the Ancelloti appointment. Hopefully somebody told him not to put red xmas decorations on his tree or this could be the shortest managerial appointment ever.
