Anchor bolt load capacity

You could red plug and screw that to the wall with that weight and it wouldn't shear.

Decent fixings, perhaps chemical if you're feeling like a belt and braces approach to cover the additional shock of throwing the weights onto the rack.

Chemical resin is only good if the material you drilling into is not very good, it’s not going to increase the breaking/sheer point of a 6mm fixing.

Just drill it and fix the bracket to the wall then just the weights carefully one at a time and see what happens.

I’d prefer to use 8mm if it was me but no harm in trying 6mm if that’s all you can use.

Hello!

Figured it would be nice to give you all a short update.

In the end I drilled the holes out to 12mm, and used M10 anchor bolts (this gave me just enough slack if the drill drifted for any reason). Drilling out the metal was a pain in the proverbial but I got there in the end.

The rack is up and solid. So far I am just loading it with just under 160kg, but I'm confident in the wall and bolts so I'm sure it'll cope with the next plates I buy for it.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Just looking at that pic, the bolts you've used look like belong on the thing anyway. You might of found it easier stepping upto 8 then to 10 rather going straight upto 12. I bet you had loads of chatter:D.
