And how am I supposed to apply for that?

I was in Newcastle job centre not long back when I was asked by one of the girls behind the counter "would you feel comfortable commuting to Dresden"! Apparently, this is considered to be a "local job" by them!

Yeah, sure I can't see a problem in getting to Dresden for 09:00 on a daily basis!

I believe the local radius is something like 15 miles, or an hour on public transport.

I take it your 'trying' to be funny? There's a Dresden in Stoke.

The Jobcentre is crap, get your self down to an agency.

Thats how i got the job at Abbey National, its much easier, faster, no interview, acceptance upon computer based test complete.

Easy.

This is incredibly common - download a form, print it, write on it, send it. I've lost count of the number of PDF forms I've been through that work this way. Why do so many people around here seem surprised (unless you've never filled in any downloadable forms of course)? It's really not some sort of MENSA intelligence test you know. :p

I thought you were too disabled to work anyway?

Yeah, but that doesn't mean I don't want to work. I haven't stopped looking for a job just because of my disability, that would just be giving up and I'm not like that at all. The main problem I have is that prospective employers don't want to employ someone who's going to have to take 2-3 days a month off for hospital visits.

That's a bit like saying you can't edit a word document because you can only do it 'if you have the software'

How many people have Adobe Acrobat Professional?

Lots of those crappy free/cheap PDF editors aren't worth the pixels they use on your screen.

Anyway, print out and send in.

Because they state to email it back.

I have got access to any PDF editor I want but thats not the point.
Mr Average won't have a clue.

.pdf is such a bloody useless format, there's no point in using the thing with so many viable open source alternatives around.

Complete waste of disk space tbh.

No, it was Dresden in Germany not the one by Longton. I automatically assumed it was the 'local' Dresden, but that's why my jaw dropped when they informed me that it was t'other!

Its because the Jobcentre computer is atrocious. When you search for local companies it comes up with all sort of jobs in europe.

Increases your chances then. ;)

I love PDFs. It means you can create a document with non standard fonts and graphics and guarantee its going to look the same on all machines.
