Only problem I would say is that it's 32 man and they suck compared to 24 and that having this server full might be a problem unless it is public too and becomes popular?

Is there an OCUK TF2 group to advirtise such gubbins?

Lyon, just use the Ocuk group for announcing matches, maybe add a few more admins to it?

no point in making a TF2 group, the L4D one is needed for the group servers etc
 
Well, I suck at this. :p

Server is now changed to a 24-man server as requested and I will be implementing a few more tweaks such as class limits and a warmup timer in the next day or so.

Had some real fun with Knubj3 pinning people down in the spawn room for a while :D

Oh btw Link, can you look into the map timings? it seems the maps switch very fast and often both teams don't get a chance to attack and defend in a single map

Otherwise so far so good, for all new people I highly recommend starting with a medic as you can run around healing people, and getting to see how the game works. Plus imo Medic is one of the most fun classes if played right :)

yup was a good laugh. class limits are a must altho our 5 snipers done a leet job on the payload map

Haha yeah, those guys were genius.

Few things that I think I have mentioned to link:

- Receiving bits of lag when we almost had a full server at the start. 24 Man ***.

- Warmup timer at the start, only 30secs but helps the slowbie's arrive.

- Longer maps/round limits as Hippo/Euology said. We played goldrush as red and then didn't get to play as blue team. We played badlands for 2 consecutive wins and it changed again (10mins max?)

- Class limits to 3 per class per team on 24man.

- Remove all talk and let admins enable through a vote. Too much talking is crap and it's nice to have a little team co-ordination. (Some servers do like a Friday night "all talk night" for example).

I would say they are the neccessary things to make it overall a lot better with least effort.

Some other nice things over time could be:

- Map vote option in last 5-10 minutes (might have seen it once but it seemed that other admins were changing the map rather than letting the vote pass).

- Oppertunity to RTV (Rock the vote) for when ****e admins put it on abysmal maps like HYDRO.

- Have a map vote/ranking system so people can select when they are playing and then the server offers the higher ranked ones more on map votes (This is active on HH servers).


Can't think of anything other than that, but it was some good games tonight. Enjoyed it immensly even though my mic doesn't work in game (annoyingly) at the moment. Going to try and fix it!
 
It should have the RtD (Roll the Dice) mod on - I haven't played it in yonks, but it was great fun :p
 
How did you get fibre in Preston? I have a friend living there that would kill for such a connection :)

I don't think anyone put Hydro on, it was just part of the rotation.

That vote that came up did finish, I didn't override it, but it didn't wait untill the end of the round.

Maybe consider turning off the crit boost in CTF (tf_ctf_bonus_time 0).

Noooooo, RtD is the kind of thing which is fun at the start but gets annoying real fast..

hydro was just in the map rotation, I told link to remove it from the map list, so it'll never rotate to it :)

I changed it, but the server needed rebooting to change the number slots, however people were on the server, so I left it until a point when nobody was on. I restarted it this morning and it is now 24 slots.

I'll look into the other changes later today. I have set up the class limits using a plugin (any cvars? Tell me what they are please ;) ) with all set to 3 except the sniper, which is limited to 2 for now.
 
It's a shame there's not all talk and team talk buttons, because I think it's good to have a bit of banter between the teams if we're just playing for a laugh.

It was good fun last night, especially on goldrush when I could hear shouts of "There's a scout behind the cart, somebody get him!"

There's a sourcemod plugin that allows that, but it requires people to know about it and bind buttons as needed.
