And the Cypress shader count is...

i would love to see ati repetitively nail nvidia in the nuts for their shameful ways. but as you guys have said, we need them...

Since i'm almost certainly buying a 5870 so id quite like nvidia fall short this time round. :)

Wouldn't go as far as you guys though.

Nvidia's brand is far too strong, even if Nvidia failed miserably this generation (which I really doubt) there are still hordes of loyal fanboys out there who will only buy the green team's products. I don't think they'll be folding any time soon, at least - unless of course it's at home. :o

It's good to see the first cards of this next generation should be doing really well, though. I'd hate for another G80-like situation where the only cards worth having cost over £200.

just been browsing through a lot of sites and read on one of them that the 5870 x2 has the 1600 cores not the individual one? are they mistaken?

I would hate to see either company go down the pan as it would mean more expensive gfx cards for us the consumer. I would like to see someone like intel step into the high end gfx card market to really push things forward and make it a tripple war.

I don't think NVIDIA are going anywhere, I believe they still own more market share than ATi so if ATi can weather the **** storm then so can NVIDIA, if this Q is quiet for NVIDIA so be it but I doubt it is the be all and end all.

why would you want that? competition is good and thousands of people would lose their jobs.

It's not about hating, and do you think I dont know that...

Although I do feel hate is pretty close to what I feel for how the company conducts itself.

Nvida need a great big kick up the arse, and somebody needs to whip the company into shape quick smart. Under the current leadership I feel Nvidia are doomed to taking a hiding from ATI for 12 months, followed by two hidings from both ATI and Intel 12 months after that.

Any improvement in the number of rendering pipelines? not likely to see much difference except in shader heavy games otherwise.

very one sided article but if it holds true then these new cards will be monsters, but atm i'm just taking all rumors with a pinch of salt untill the paper release next week, i'm looking forward to the pricing most, it'll be whether i decide to get a 4890 to last me a year first of dive right in and get a 58xx card

To be fair to Charlie and even Fuad for that matter they both stated 800SP's for the 4800's and no one believed them until it was actually announced at the press release.

They may be one sided sometimes but I've found them to be almost pretty spot on, they obviously have their insiders.
