Very sad - but it's amazing how Fawlty Towers has sustained his popularity though, that's all anyone seems to know him from!

Just because people have brought it up - I thought the Brand / Ross thing was funny tbh, maybe not up to clean beeb standards though.

Cannot agree more, There are very few people in this world i would cheer if i heard they snuffed it but Brand would be one of them (and the last time was Bob Crow)

As for Mr Sachs, RIP he made me laugh like a drain when i was a kid watching Fatty Owls

Him and Cleese were a comedy powerhouse and the series is still top notch gold and still painfully funny

Re the Brand/Ross thing: it was Wossy who was instigating it all. The fall out was always a bit harsh on Brand - dunno why people hate him for it.

In any case, I thought it was quite funny. Less funny was the way Sachs, apparently, cut all contact with his granddaughter due to his disgust of finding out about her day job (burlesque).
