Android 1.5 to 2.1 Whaaayyy!

Curse you Red Baron!

Finally dragged the other halves Samsung i5700 kicking and screaming to 2.1. Took countless trial and error with installers, and files to get a install that would work on this phone. She got a new phone so I was free to either update it or brick it. Working fine if a bit slow. Have the Play store and can download and run new apps.

Kind of a pointless battle. But sometimes you just can't give up.

Get some gingerbread action on there

No video support for the camera and the 3D ability is a bit ropey, but it's perfectly useable this was my dialy driver on my i5700 before I upgraded to my i9300 (what an upgrade!!)

Was a good little phone in it's day

Did anyone ever write those great 3D drivers for it? The i5700 has no 3D processor but I read that it could still do pretty well if coded for .

Best it ever got was the intercept drivers for 2.2... OpenGLES never happened

That gingerbread action looks a bit beyond my patience level.

Plan is giving it to granny for solitaire and similar and looking up the bus time tables.

Fair enough, stick with stock 2.1 then, it's stable and for that much use it's perfect
