Hello

Is it possible to setup android so that it utilises the caller ID to pull the number / name from the exchange directory? At the moment, the person phones and it only displays the number but once I go in to the call log it has populated it with the name / contact details. I would like it so that it uses the directory as the phone is ringing to bring up the name; is this possible?

I don't want to have work contacts in my personal contacts account and would rather keep them on the GAL lookup instead.

Cheers,

Chris

I have not heard it can be done typically but would also be interested. I suspect the issue here would be permissions. The phone app typically (or by default) gains privledge to see your contacts so it can do the lookup. The phone app would have to know there was a second set of contacts to look up which might be tough as the GAL is typically presented through the MDM solution your company uses (airwatch, G4E, default E-mail client, etc...) and as some of them are encapsulated, some are integrated etc... with no common interface i suspect this is extremely tough to do.

Yeah I suspect so. Its just annoying really as I use a tool to bring the GAL in to my exchange contacts and then I now have to export/import in to contacts to update the company list. It works, but is quite cumbersome and not automatic.
