Android Anti-Virus?

Necessary?

Best free low resource one?

I have AVG on my old LG G2 which I am finally retiring so would prefer something less resource hungry. I have a Samsung S7 now if it makes a difference or not to recommendations.

Never needed an AntiVirus on all my years in android.

Just don't install any dodgy apps

I've never understood why anyone would consider AV on a phone. There's just no need.

Annoyingly, I've seen two colleagues at work with new Sony Z5 and Z3 phones and they all have Avast (orange text on black background icon?) pre-installed. An AV and some Avast security thing.

I just use the built in Privacy Guard and restrict what each app does.

Scaremongering news articles in mainstream media probably don't help. The few most popular AV apps on the Play Store have millions of installs, it's a bit worrying that people are so complacent.

Network additions then, my Z3 was SIM free and had nothing of the sort.
