For sound, just select silent in notification settings, as in, select like you're changing the sounds, but select silent.

If Yahoo can be piped into other pop3 clients, you can have Gmail check it for you. You have to set it up through the website, not the app. Somewhere in settings, import or something along those lines.

Cheers - have setup gmail to send/receive my hotmail account :)
 
Thumb Keyboard - I'm currently trying the Swiftkey Flow beta, and it's impressive, but I've tried lots of other keyboards before and always come back to Thumb Keyboard - more for the PC keyboard user than the swipe/flow users, though obviously not as fancy.
