(Android) Apps pause updating while screen is off?

Right, for some reason now on all of my android devices (3 of them (phones), they don't seem to be able to update apps while the screen is off anymore?, has something happened or changed to the app store?, anyone else got this issue?

Can confirm I've had this happen over the last week. No idea why or how to fix it.

Yep I have it here. At first I thought it might have been Greenify or something I frozen in Titanium that was causing it, but it seems not.

I've just started to notice this too. Nexus 5 on 5.1.1, though I assume it's a change they've made to the play store.

On 5.1.1 on an S6 Edge and my apps are updating normally. Usually wake up to a screen of notifications letting me know they're done.

Have you got your apps to update only on WiFi? If so go into your Advanced settings for your WiFi (Settings > WiFi > More). Make sure that the option "Keep WiFi on during sleep" isn't set to Never.
If it is set to that then your updates are stopping as the WiFi is disconnecting.

Anyone else having this issue or found a way to resolve it? Really is annoying when you have a ton of apps update.

I thought it always did this. I've never turned my screen off whilst updating apps for this very reason.

Yep, noticed this too the other week. I expect a Google Play update has changed something.

Ok, I've actually spoken to google play support and according to the agent he is not aware of any changes with regards to how the updates are pushed out from the play store and as far as he is aware all apps that don't need special permissions should update while your phone is asleep (screen off) so it is strange quite a few people on here have this issue.

I updated 10+ apps today in the background today no problems.

LG G2 running CM12.1 if it makes any difference.

Play Store 8.1?

I've not seen this issue for a while, it happens sometimes randomly but not in the BG, in the FG! It just says "error" or some such, i retry and it then downloads fine. Most usually when on mobile network data not WiFi, though.
