Hi ive set this up in my wife's fiesta mk8, using a WiFi dongle. She used it this morning for a short while and it worked fine, but when she got back in the car is wouldn't re-initialise, is there some setting to do a reset? The phone is a old s9. I have said to try it tomorrow, and if that doesn't work use a cable and see if it's still an issue but obviously wireless is easier.

I've got my Mrs a pixel Pro for Xmas, so I'll see how that fairs. In the meantime, I'm off tomorrow so I'll test it when we go out to drop the kids off.

I have to set the input type pretty much every time in the phone usb settings
There's an app called MacroDroid which lets you trigger actions on your phone when an event happens. Not quite the same situation as the OP, but I found that sometimes when the phone connected over BT Spotify wouldn't start playing, so I created a macro that detects the BT connection to the car, then opens Spotify and starts playing. You should be able to do similar to set whatever config you need when connecting to your car.

The phone needs to be pretty close to the wireless receiver for it to work properly. If I leave my phone in my pocket it is very intermittent, I have to put it in the middle of the centre console.

So a quick update, As far as I can tell it needs reconnecting each time the car is started (I'm wondering if this is normal, as it would usually be with a cable anyway). she seems happy with it, and my plan is to have the WiFi adapter in the front USB port so she can just whip it out quick (generally keeps her phone in her bag so this is easier). As I only have student spotify, we did have a fight between our 2 cars earlier  .
