Android box recommendations please

Evening. Im looking at picking up an android box to replace my ageing 1st Gen Firestick. Im looming at something thats capable of playing Kodi and IPTV smoothly at at least 1080p and something with at least 4gm ram. As its Black Friday im looking at picking up one cheap(er). Any recommendations please? Thanks

Happy with my amlogic s912 based, octo core, 64gb storage, 3gb ram altawise h92 pro plus.3gb ram is plenty

I know it's above your budget but I'd recommend a Nvidia Shield. Android TV plus has GeForce Now which is Nvidia’s cloud-based game streaming service. For something a bit cheaper try something like the T95Z. Trouble with these Chinese ones is that they sometimes come preloaded with bloatware that can be hard to remove.

Not Android but Raspbery Pi is also an option as you can just get it to boot straight into something like LibreELEC.

Not a problem if third party room is available in using super celeron Ron it's debloated, any suspicious apps are removed and system fixes and codecs

Nvidia shield would be my 1st choice if cost wasn't a factor but it is. Budget is around the £40 mark. Something that has good 3rd party rom support would be preferable as well

Check if there's a rom on freak tab. Pretty much similar.

I'm happyy with it no problems.

Avoid rockchip chips as Kodi support isn't great

I would just get a 4K fire stick currently £30,easy to install apps via downloader or filelinked.

Brilliant can recommend Tivimate, tbh the 4k stick is just as responsive as my nvidia shield.

Not as good spec as s912 however more likely to have working 4k netflix

I would highly recommend the Xiaomi Mi Box, has the proper Android TV OS and it's been rock solid for me.

You will find it a lot faster than the gen 1 stick.I have had a few Shields but sold them as the Fire TVs are just as fast.

TV is has fewer apps to download on play store, I used the full version instead. It opens up Kodi by default anyway so it doesn't matter plus have full os.like tablet or phone not TV stick

I have ordered a Nvidia Shield pro expensive but meant to be one of the best boxes around. Just hope it don't go down in price black Friday as I have just ordered it

I would have gotten the Shield as more open to installing what you want without messing about like the Amazon devices which are tied to your Amazon account BTW.

+1 for the Shield. Been using the ATV for a good few years now but put an order in for the regular 2019 Shield TV which should be coming at the end of the week.
