Android box recommendations please

Since 2011 (ish).

I think you need to go and rethink that as the original was 2014 and if they used Pure Android the Google store would work on it and ever wonder why you cannot buy Google (Home/Mini etc) products on Amazon?

It is a closed eco system like Apples needing with many apps needing side-loaded and again tied to your Amazon account.

You cannot read as it was 2014 not 2011 and I made a word bold and underlined for a reason out as I said its is not PURE Android.

He asked about an Android box not an Amazon Firestick no matter how you dress it up it is not.

Fire OS was started around 2011; Fire OS is built off AOSP; Amazon Fire TV's/Sticks use Fire OS.

What's "PURE" Android? Do you mean Google Android or AOSP (arguably the purest of Android's)?

I was purely answering your question of "Since when is a Firestick Android?" - that's it.

Back to topic, a Fire TV/Stick would be a good shout as it's cheap and you can install a lot of Android apps including Google apps (like the Play store) without too much hassle. Certainly beats RPi (only really good for Kodi) and cheap 'Android' boxes.

I'd just buy a cheap S912 with at least 2/16 and install Atvexperience on it.
T95Z is cheap enough and 2GB is fine, they also do 3g/4g versions. Also has a micro SD card slot for a discrete storage update. All the boxes are the same, just find any with a s912.
I also like the option of installing CoreElec direclty or on the SD card for a pure Kodi experience.

Only problem is if you want netflix.

Or find a 2nd hand 2017 shield for around £100.
