Hi

Use a samsung tab S with chrome browser, which is generally fast but Im getting fed up when a page loads and I go to click a link and suddenly the page skips up due to an ad loading which in turn makes me click on the wrong link.

Now my tablet is unrooted and i don't plan to root it but I'm wondering if you guys can recommend a browser that is quick and is good at blocking ads.

I've tried Firefox with ublock origin addon but generally the browser feels a lot slower at loading pages.

I've heard of others such as lighting browser but Im unsure how well these are supported and if they are secure.

Any recommendations.

Thanks

This is based on CAF 46, which is a Chromium 46 build optimised for Snapdragon based devices with built in adblocking and Chrome sync: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsbrowser.browser

It's my main browser and feels a lot faster and smoother than Chrome. But I believe the Tab S is based on Exynos so not sure if it will perform fine.

Another option is this, based on the standard Chromium 45: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-nochromo-wild-browser-appears-t3130776

On the same XDA thread someone attempted to update it based on Chromium 50 but seems to have a couple of issues: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65252109&postcount=389

I've been through just about every browser for Android and have to say I find the most consistent performer to be CM Browser. Its extremely quick and very smooth, doesn't suffer from that awful page skip crap and syncs bookmarks from Chrome really easily.

However it doesn't blocks ads unfortunately but I've just accepted them as a trade off for getting a browser that works how I want it to. This is on a Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 if it makes a difference.

"Unfortunately, RSBrowser has stopped"

Well that didn't take long :(

Try this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwQJqwBIsTP5NXlsNGU1cDdkNVE/view?usp=sharing

Based on CAF46, built by a different person (JSwarts) but pulled out of the Play store as people on the OnePlus forums were begging for too many useless features as well as XDA pressuring him to release the source code even though he didn't change much from the actual source code. Luckily I backed it up just in case.

There's this site as well which provides links to CAF based browsers: http://www.enricoros.com/opensource/swe/

I think I will try this first, I'm not bothered to much with the ad's, but like you the page skipping is such a pain.

This is a question i have always wanted to know but never had the right time until now. The Tab S uses a Samsung Exynos 5420 which is obviously an ARM core but not from qualcomm who make the snapdragon. If a build is optimised from snapdragons is it being optimised for the specific instruction set of a qualcomm processor or for the ARM core generically?

I believe it's instruction sets specific to SD processors or ones they perform in a lot more efficiently. I did have a go on my Nexus 10 (Exynos) with an older CAF 42 build and didn't really see any issues with it.
