Android can be patched to block the exploit just like in Windows. Some have already been patched. Some phones don't run Qualcomm processors where the exploit can run and instead use stuff from mediatek or Samsung's own foundary etc...
For a bit of a change i tried this app on my "I'm an IT department stuck in the past" handset - an SGS4 with a battery problem and it's affected too so not too sure how many generations of snapdragon are hit by this.
