Android desire upgrade gurus please

Right this phone is starting to rage me seriously. Windows 7 x64. Goldcard made on my desire. Card in the phone ready to upgrade. latest HTC sync installed, phone in debug mode and disk drive.

Device manager shows MY android USB Devices. MY HTC its using driver
ANDROIDUSB.sys

Plug it in start the update.exe all going good updating to 2.2 with

RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed

Then it attempts to rebooting to bootloader, windows makes the failed usb noise

phone sits on HTC Screen. Device manager now shows under androidusb devices HTC Bootloader and the warning symbol. Error Code 171 comes up after 60 seconds. USB error details are as follows

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

Its trying to use the same driver as before. What on earth is going on here been at this rubbish for 2 hours. Cant find any help for this error. Except stop windows doing drivers auto which is now off.

Gurus of android can you fix this or am I doomed to wait for the useless monkeys at 02.
 
omg you cant believe this after 2 hours I thought meh al just try the .exe again seeing as windows once the programme is closed maintains on the boot driver instead of going back to my htc and it worked.

if it wasn't so funny I would go and have a breakdown lol

now on 2.2 honestly just rofl.
