Android Donut revealed, adds multitouch, universal search, better performance + more

Google did something awesome with Android, it's the only phone OS so far that adds so much new stuff on updates that means if you get an awesome handset you can have it for far longer now.

I'll upgrade the Magic when a handset is out that's:

Thin
Good battery
720P video recorder
Decent res screen for web browsing

That will be the handset type I keep for a very long time and just update Android OS each time

android already supports multi touch (hardware permitting), but only for certain things I think, this was for multi-touch to be supported throughout the OS

I don't care for multitouch in normal apps it's games and emulation I'm wanting it for.

I like the hero as well, its just that darn chin I find so ugly.

I'm surprised there aren't more emulators. I've got a couple of NES emulators that work well. But I want to see if anyone can get UAE onto it!!

There's a SNES emulator due soon called SuperGNES but they seem to be taking as much time as they need making sure it is perfect before releasing it, makes a pleasant change from all the incomplete apps I see in the Android Market sometimes.

I had an idea about a SNES/NES emu for the Magic, by modding a NES/SNES controller to use a mini USB plug you could use it as an external controller if someone made an emulator that can read the commands! someone needs to do it

It's a nice idea but I'm not sure the USB port on the Magic (or other phones) can work like that. The Magic is a guest device and as such cannot act as a host for other devices. I maybe wrong but I'm fairly certain this has come up on other forums before.

Sorry guys! I didn't mean to be the bringer of doom and gloom! But the Magic does lack the controls for an emulator of a games console... which is a shame.

There's already Nesoid, SNesoid, Gensoid and GameBoid!

I've found them pretty good to play the games I legally own.

Yep Galaxy will have it, this is the 'phone' that i've been waiting for! Luckily my contract expiring and the phones release happen within days of each other

Agree with you on the Hero, looks nice until you see the bottom, would annoy me in my pocket, and during general use I reckon.
