Android Google Chat problem

For some reason Chat is not working on my phone tonight. When I click on the icon it tries to sign in and then faikls with a message saying it failed to authenticate. Is anyone else getting this?

Earlier tonight I updated my settings from goolemail to gmail so I wonder if that's related, although every other function in the phone is still working.

After looking around (and it appears to be in the Google FAQ), it is indeed the change from googlemail to gmail that is the issue. You can fix it on Android 2.1 by resetting the phone or changing back to googlemail.

I've switched back until they work out a proper fix.

From what i've read they're not going to release a proper fix. Remember reading a post by a google employee on their forum saying the only real way to go if you want to move from googlemail to gmail is to factory reset the phone and rejoin it with the gmail account.

yeah reset your phone, on the plus side picasa sync will work on the gmail addy.
