Have a HTC one M8 and the micro SD card we were using in it corrupted, luckily most of the photos were backed up and I can see them in the "photos" app.
on the phone I can see photos as far back as December 2014, however on the android tablet we have I can see photos as far back as August 2014.

I can't seem to find the option to download them all back to the phone though.
And I can't understand why the tablet can "see" more photos.

Anyone have any idea ?

On my Samsung Galaxy S5 I have it set to sync when connected to wifi this means all my photos on my google cloud are visible on my phone and pc

try using a file explorer and seeing if you can transfer them via wifi or bluetooth to another device
