Android M, Update?

It's not even released properly yet. It's still in developer preview stage so the source code for OEMs to release it hasn't been released yet and won't be until its proper release (sometime later this year).

tldr: sometime between now and 2018 (probably).
 
I doubt the Huawei G7 will get Android M.

It'll be 24 months old by the time Android M comes out.

android m isn't the second coming of christ. it's just lollipop with the odd added feature. hence why it's still 5.

nobody seems to be that excited about it. even the pro-android press

android is in a bit of a downer at the moment. their hasn't been any great devices or software for the last 2 years. all small upgrades.
 
It's also only out in preview right now, and the rumours are that Google is keeping the best features to announce later in the year. I'd hardly call it "lollipop with the odd added feature" until you can get your hands on the final version.

Also, Kitkat to Lollipop was a big upgrade, not a small one.

Who said it was?

It's all about refinement after the large update that was LP. We all know it's not a major release.

Most of the visual tweaks will be for stock android anyway.

And LP wasn't a great update? Yeah whatever.
 
lollipop was a big disapointment to me

not a fan of material design. it's just an excuse for google to make all their apps look the same so they can force a brand identity on everyone, then fill your phones up with bloat you don't use (much like htc and samsung) but now it's google doing it.

i prefered icecream sandwich holo design

That is true, although it depends on the manufacturer.
I bought my LG optimus G pro recently and the phone was originally released around spring 2013, but I'm using Lollipop on it (official LG).
 
i think the less popular manufacturers (and the ones desperate to keep their small fanbase) tend to up date more. i want an update for 2 years, then i don't care.

i don't need every iteration of lollipop either. i'm happy with my s5 being on lollipop and .1 or 0.0.2 or whatever update (that google released that don't actually fix any of the main bugs in lollipop) are pointless

But anyway to OP, it totally depends on Huawei to decide. Usually if a phone is around 2 years old then don't expect an update.

Personally I like Lollipop... the improvements it had gave my N10 life again, on Kitkat it felt like it was reaching the end, but Lollipop made it completely smooth again. I didn't like Material UI at first, but slowly over time once I saw how other developers did their own spin on Material UI I've warmed up to it now. Material UI can look great if done right. Sadly, Google doesn't do it right with the majority of their apps :p.
