Going to Croatia for a week shortly, and wondered what is the best navigation app to use?

I use Waze in the UK, but not sure a) what the coverage is like across Europe, and b) what the data usage is like? I have 500mb inclusive, if that's not enough, I'll have to add an extra 1GB for £15.

I've used Map Factor Navigator in the past when travelling through France/Belgium/Netherlands as this uses offline maps, but wondered if there's anything better?

TomTom will do Europe properly, though you'll need to fork out £15 for a year. You can try it free first to see if you like it.

The only data it will want abroad is for traffic etc. the maps are all offline.

Hey,

You can get a 12GB Data Pay as you go SIM from Three for £20 which includes EU Roaming which may be worth a go if you get tight on data.

I've done in a few times before and it was generally okay other than one particular place in Spain.

If either of you are on a 3 contract, then you get free unlimited data in Europe anyway.

I asked the same questioned a little while back and after trying a few out went with Here maps in the end.

Download the maps before going then switch to offline mode. Found it much easier to set up than Google maps with a nicer interface.

I've used CoPilot in Europe and the US before, that was pretty good, but that was before Google allowed map downloads...although I think there's a limit to how much you can download for offline use? Might be a pain if you want to download a map of the whole journey.

Can't believe nobody has recommended Here yet. Downloadable maps, and offline mode.
UnworthyBean did ;)

Not sure what the data usage is like as I've only ever used it on an unlimited plan, but in my experience Waze is by far the best for driving in Europe, mainly due to its traffic routing and speed camera / police locations.

Going next weekend, Vodafone (who we're with) have started it, but only for new contracts, current contract has 500mb included, but for any more would need to pay extra
