Android one Google keyboard suggestions not working?

This is a really weird one. I'll try and replicate it as I type, but essentially suggestions don't always get printed correctly but kinda of half garbled nonsense.

MeangktMea. That was meant to say mean girls.... I have no idea why it does this.

Any ideas it used to work, I tjith (that was think) I'll have to try another keyboard?

Oddly enough I looked on SwiftKey keyboard revorev (reviews) on playstore and it has a massive amount of recent 1 star votes saying the same issues I'm having.

I'm guessing it goes slot deeper than what keyboard you are using.

It happens in messenger and Facebook too. Basically where ever I type.
But look it's not doing it now....
Something incredibly weird has occured but now it's not happening?
Not even sure what to say. I'm just gonna type

Mines doing it a lot less but still doing it.
I'm back to the original Google keyboard now.

Yep looks reasonably good.
Little bit more then I'll stop for now, must have been something a bit wrong womewsome and there we go..... Mm took a long time but it's kicked in fonallf ....

Thought it was me fat finger typing, but I've had the same issue on my one plus two using swiftkey for at least a week now. Takes ages to type a messages out now.
 
Ok this is still happening after a month and it's got to the point where I dislike typing on this phone.
It's usually fine as long as I make very few mistakes but after a few it just suggests random lists of letters for stuff.
Sometimes when I'll click the corrected word in the suggestion list it will not respond for 4 or 5 presses then on the next it will insert complete Garbage. It also likes to put capital letters in now and then. See Garbage as an example?
 
6 weeks later and it's still just as useless.
Sometimes it just refuses to insert a suggested word from the 3 above the keyboard.....

Anyone else suffering still?
 
I used Swype originally for a couple of years, then changed to SwiftKey when I changed phone, which I used for a couple of years. Now that I've changed phone again (Mi A1 as well), I tried Google keyboard, but I much prefer Swype out of all of them.
Seems to more responsive, picks the word that I intended more often than the others, and the gestures to capitalise, select all/cut/copy/paste are really handy.
 
Been getting this frequently on my Nexus 7 2013 recently, I tap a suggested word correction and it changes the word to a load of gobbledegook.
 
Google Keyboard/Gboard has been doing this to me for a while now. Oneplus One.

I type frantically, it gives a suggestion, when I hit the suggestion it either does nothing or fills in some rubbish. :confused:

I've had this issue for ages and this post is the only thing I've found online about it. It drives me mad using Gboard!
 
So I was advised that it's to do with formatting and I found if I click the 't' at the top right of the reply box it works fine. haven't had a problem since.

So it's not a keyboard issue but an Android or browser one?

Weird how it never happened previously, maybe it's Oreo.
