Android or Apple?

Youve got to wonder if people like Sin_Chase buy cars like the s2000 because of tech specs and not the driving experience...

A healthy mix of both......except I am not declaring my car is better than every other competitor in every way because of the experience alone.

Still missing my point?

For a tablet I would get the ipad 2 over anything else.

But for phones it'd be the HTC Disire HD.

I don't get the iPad thing - it's just an oversized version of an iPhone and having and HTC Desire I can do everything that the iPad can do on something that I can stick in my pocket. It holds no real interest past being a pretty gadget - I would much rather wait till a more capable device comes out because in my eyes the iPad/iPad2 are just gadget impulse buys...

I've also got the HTC Desire, I love it.

I love the browsing on the ipad, drawing, and playing with interactive html5. But wouldn't pay the price of the ipad 2, I'm a student lol.

What would a more "capable" device do. Tablets are media devices and they do everything fine. Well be nice if flash was enabled. Browsing internet and watching video is utterly rubbish on phones.

I agree, the iPad is not better in every way, just almost every way. I'd still take the iPads screen, mono speaker, but if Apple did decide to put the iPhone 4's camera and flash on the iPad then I wouldn't complain, as long as they didn't charge £500+ for the privilege... :p

Why on earth do people care about a camera. I can see the need for a camera, for video calling. But there is ZERO need for a decent camera, it just adds price for no reason. Are you really going to pull out a 10" tablet to take a picture. It's a ridiculous idea.

I couldn't agree more, I hardly use the camera on my phone, I can't see any use for a high MP tablet camera.

Some people do care about a good camera. Just because you don't need/want one, there is a user base that does.

user base that think they do, in reality I bet the actual user base is tiny ~1% of users. for quick photos you are going to use your phone, due to size, for better photos you are going to use a camera, when does a tablet camera fit in for 99% of users? and that 1% is probably filled with ponces thinking it's call t show of tech.

^ Different people have different needs, tablets like the iPad are targeted at general consumers (like yourself) while others have greater enterprise/productivity requirements (eg, video conferencing will be a high priority)

Browsing internet and watching video is utterly rubbish on phones.

Never used a DHD for web browsing then? :p

it's got video conferencing, what need is there for high MP cameras on a tablet, it is for spec sheet selling, that's it.

Screens are to small even 4.3" phones are to small for proper internet browsing.

Why is there always such a big debate about apps?

I had an android phone and only installed about 10 apps the rest are just pointless time waster. Same with the ipad downstairs theres about 6 apps installed.

For me as I said earlier 99.995 of apps are pointless. however apps are like software and allow you to do certain things. so if you want to do x/y/z you need thoughs apps. At the moment apple have many more proper apps than android. The big company apps that people just can;t make their own version of.

Because some people are impressed with having a truck load of apps that give you access to services which a normal bookmark in a decent browser would allow you to do.

I have an ipod touch and I dont bother with apps either, couldnt give a flying one about them.

Having used both I would go for Apple at the moment.

I prefer Android in every was when it comes to features and userbility. Unfortunately my experiences of battery life with Android devices has been poor.

The happiest I have ever been with a phone was with my HTC Desire - apart from the half day battery life. With my iPhone4 I get two days without too much trouble.

Dunno - I don't find it too much of a mission - a little small granted but not tragic and not bad enough to justify a £500-£600 spend on a bigger web browser. I would like something that I can use as a tool at work as well - something that I can access our VMWare environment from and do basic admin work. I'd also prefer to not have to deal with using a 'middleman' app like iTunes. I'm happier to just drag and drop.

Like that other thread regarding Tablets in the laptop section - the ACER Transformer format seems to make a lot of sense to me.

asus transformer.

it's not just webrowsing it's also film playing, do you really want to watch a filom on a 4" screen, I certainly don't nore do i want to browse on a 4" screen although I do as it's better than sitting at a desktop.

if you want it for ork, then your best bet is a windows7 tablet. but then you lose all the usefulness or a mobile OS. An android tablet is unlikely to change anything in the work department.

I didn't say it was a big user base, although you have absolutely no way of quantifying what others want so not sure why you're attempting to. But you're doing the same as you have throughout this thread - implying because its not right for you then it must be pointless.

Everyone has different needs, deal with it.

Not at all, even from the first post I've said some designs are useful for some and people use tech differently. However a decent camera I can't see anyone using it for anything other than to show off.

There's no need as said I've acknowledged that people use things differently. But this was a what should I do thread, not a general thread. As I liek aspects from both and both have negatives.

I'm not even sure how you would even go about showing off with a tablet camera in all honesty :p
