Android phone advice - £200.00 budget

Well my Nokia order was returned to the sender so I've asked for a refund. In the meantime I've ordered a Samsung Galaxy A33 5G 6GB/128GB. Its better than the Nokia G60 and the Samsung A14 5G but not quite as good as the Samsung Galaxy A34 but that costs a bit more.

It also gets four major Android updates and comes with 12 so will get 16. The A14 5G /A34 will get 17. The Nokia will get 15 and the Xiaomi devices get three updates so current models which come with 12 will get 15 as well.

I recently bought a Honor Magic 5 Lite for £230 for my dad and was quite impressed. The camera is pretty rubbish, but it has a 5100mAh battery, great OLED display and is relatively lightweight compared to many phones nowadays.

Xiaomi are very good. But you can get great second hand deals on Amazon and also on Blackmarket (if you choose excellent condition status). I bought a Samsung S20 ultra second hand a couple of weeks ago from amazon and it is like new. Only cost £270 which isn't bad considering its more powerful than most laptops and they cost £1200 new. (2.73ghz cpu, 2k 120hz AMOLED screen, 108mp 5 cameras, 5000ma battery, 12gb ram, 128gb storage etc etc)

Popped in a £9/16gb a month 5G sim from tesco and I was good to go

Great price for such a powerful phone, the only issue buying older phones like that is software support. The S20 Ultra comes with Android 10 and should get Android 14, whereas a newer Samsung phone will get you to Android 16 or 17.

I think in terms of Android updates Samsung are about the best so if that’s important to you then look at Samsung over other brands.

I recently picked up a brand new Samsung A34 5G 256gb for under £170 delivered off eBay.
There's quite a few on there at similar prices
Great phone and a bargain considering they are around £300+ in the shops

Hard to find on there for that price in my opinion, unless you bid on auctions, especially the 8GB/256GB model. Unless you’re prepared to invest some time looking to get one as cheap as possible. I usually just use buy it now as haven’t got the time to wait for auctions to end and possibly miss out.

Well it is an auction site lol.
You do it your way and pay more, it's your choice, I'm just telling you they're out there substantially under shop prices

Not denying that, I got mine for £205.62 inc 5% GST from Amazon with Prime delivery. Cheapest I can see on eBay for buy it now is £222.19. In one of the shops over here it’s £329.

I presume yours is the 256GB awesome lime one in the completed listings here which sold for £167.57 including postage at auction…

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/9355/i.h...pacity=256%20GB&_dcat=9355&rt=nc&LH_Auction=1

The next one up sold for £229.95 including postage at auction. So to say they are available for under £170 delivered is a bit misleading, yes one sold for less than £170 but that’s it, no more stock available for less than £170.

Try again

Yeah but that’s the 128GB version, you were talking about the 256GB version for under £170 delivered.
You misunderstood then, you said you'd bought an A34, I replied that I'd bought a 256GB version and there were others available at a similar price....meaning other A34s,and there's loads, even cheaper than mine.
Don't feel bad that you overpaid lol

There was one 128GB sold at auction recently for £160 delivered. The rest were higher than what you paid. You are always going to save a bit of money if you've got the time to bid on auctions and potentially get outbid.

I can't be arsed with that, my time is worth more. I'm happy with what I paid from Amazon, its less than what they are selling for in a shop here and it was still a good price.
