Hey guys just a quick question.

Im mainly an IOS user and dont know much about android phones, i have nothing against them and i love how open platform they are.

can anyone suggest an android phone for my dad? im looking for something £200 maximum. and it doesn't matter if its second hand as long as it in good condition.

i have had my eye on these android phones:

windows phone 8s
htc one s
samsung galaxy s2
samsung galaxy note?
sony xperia t
sony xperia s

(ive been looking at them on ebay second hand)

any help is much appreciated.:)

Out of those, the htc one S (assuming it is the S4 chipset version) imo unless you want a bigger/better screen then the note.

The xperia T is nice and might suit you better depending on usage, however, if you like good viewing angles then avoid. The camera and battery life isn't as good as the one S.

Lumia 620 - £150 new - great all rounder. Could be worth considering.

For Android, pay the £240 and get an 8GB Nexus 4, well worth it.

Nexus 4 8GB is also a good shout. Although you only actually get about 5-6GB of storage. If that doesn't matter then it is between it, the one S and note.

Comes down to personal preference in the end really, all are lovely phones. Main deciding factors will be storage, screen (each has their strengths and weaknesses), build/design (subjective, although the one s has considerably better perceived quality than both) and software (subjective)

The one S has the better camera overall.

Nexus 4 and one S audio is similar, both better than the note.

Can't remember exactly what the battery life of the note is like, iirc it is similar to the gs2 with the extended battery, which is just a bit below the one S levels iirc, nexus 4 is worse by quite a bit, however, will improve with some tweaking and software updates.

Nexus 4 is a nexus device obviously :p so will get the latest updates a lot quicker than the other 2 and be guaranteed to get at least the next 2 big updates, next one is due in May.

Its a back log on orders, LG under estimated the orders on release. I have the original Nexus phone I got on release date don't think I would ever change unless it died.. Hope you get him one. :)

nexus 4 looks really good. but why is there a 1 to 2 week wait for shipping?

It's a top spec phone that costs half of what it really should.

Even though you'll likely get it sooner; it's worth the wait. Saves the hassle of buying an ultimately inferior phone second hand as well.

+1 for the Nexus4 - another added bonus is that you'll never have to wait for an Android update as the nexus models get updated before anything else so you'll be up there on Android 4.2 out of the box, while the rest of us will probably have to wait till Christmas or something lol

Another vote for the Nexus 4 here. Although from your list above I'd take the Xperia T as well if they are selling second hand for £200. It blows everything else in the list out of the water apart from maybe the Note.

Saves the hassle of buying an ultimately inferior phone second hand as well.

I would most certainly not describe the other phones as " inferior" especially the xperia t and one s.

The nexus 4 is great especially for the price, but it does fall short in comparison to them in quite a few areas (more so the one s) such as camera being the main one.

Ultimately it comes down to what suits the end user in the end.

I think the Xperia T and One S are ultimately inferior, if not by much.

The only thing really letting the Nexus down is the storage (which is naff).

There's also the consideration of new vs second hand as well, in which case the Nexus will win also.

Ah my bad, missed the key word :o :p

The one thing that I really love about the nexus 4 is the feel of the screen, a bit like the gs3 screen
