The Q Beta is live, there are some issues, please read this post before installing.

Official Support here: https://www.reddit.com/r/android_beta/

A list of apps with compatibility issues can be found at the link below. It is advised to check this before opting into the beta.

How to sign up

You can get started with Beta 1 today by enrolling any Pixel device (including Pixel and Pixel XL). If you were previously enrolled in the Android P Beta Program, you must enroll again to receive Android Q. Once enrolled, eligible devices will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update to the latest beta version.

Note: it may take up to 24 hours to receive the OTA update on your device. You can check for updates by going to Settings > System > System updates. Thanks for your patience!

Downloadable system images for Pixel devices are also available. As always, you can use the Android Emulator, and download the latest emulator system images via the SDK Manager in Android Studio.

What is in Android Q beta?

Android Q introduces a variety of new capabilities for users and developers including additional privacy and security features for users, as well as enhancements for foldables, new APIs for connectivity, new media codecs and camera capabilities, NNAPI extensions, Vulkan 1.1 support, faster app startup, and more.

This is just the start - there will be more features and capabilities added later in the preview and we’ll have even more to share at Google I/O in May.

Release Notes

Since this is a beta release, we suggest you first familiarize yourself with Android Q known issues, limitations, and general advisories. You can read them here.

Feedback

Your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Please share your thoughts about Android Q through the following channels:

  1. The new Android Beta Feedback app included in the Beta on Pixel phones. This is the preferred method if you want to report a bug. If you are a developer, please see the Developer Feedback page for details on where to file issues.
  2. Through your Pixel phone’s Settings > Tips & Support > Send feedback. You can also swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings, then tap the Android Beta tile.
  3. Post your comments here on our official Android Beta Program subreddit. We may not respond to posts individually, but we are actively monitoring the feedback. We’ll reach out to you directly if we need additional information.

PLEASE NOTE!
Once you're enrolled
Phone updates
You may remain in the Android Beta Program beyond the initial Q release to preview future Android Q updates. These may include bug fixes, feature updates and improvements to stability and performance. If you choose to do so, you will automatically get pre-release updates as they become available. At the end of the program, you will begin to receive regular public updates.

Leaving the beta program
You may opt out of the programme at any time to return to the stable, public version of Android. If you opt out when your device is running a beta version of Android, all user data on the device will be wiped. If you choose to stay enrolled until the end of the programme, you will graduate from the programme and receive an update to the stable public release of Q. Your device will not be wiped.

Installing now.

Not that it matters to me but apparently Pokemon Go doesn't work on the beta.

There isn't a toggle for it in this beta. But if you have night mode enabled before you update to the beta it will enable it.
This is correct. I actually turned off dark mode before installing the beta as I read it is quite buggy, especially in the Photos app.

Edit: OP updated with detail of how to join.

As Google+ is dead, Google have an official subreddit for bugs etc here: https://www.reddit.com/r/android_beta/

Heads up if you're a Santander customer, their online banking app thinks your device is rooted if you're running the Q beta as I've just found out.

Gpay works though.

Tip: go to app settings > default apps > roles.

I had a good few in there that were blank, including call blocking. I've reset the apps back and now I have the option to block calls again.

Apparently the fix for the SIM issues...

  1. Search in settings for Operator and click on it
  2. Click on Operator
  3. Click on SIM card
  4. After a few seconds it should connect again

Google Pay isn't working on DP3, Play Store status is not certified. SafetyNet passed now the CTS profile match has updated. Hopefully Google update Google Play Services so I can use my phone to pay for stuff again. I can still use my watch though thankfully!

First world problems.....

Looks like they've pulled it from OTA due to the installation issues.

Hope it's better than the last one, that was terrible. Kept randomly opening apps on my 3XL lol

Yes, just seen this. Can't say I had any issues when I installed it last night.

Can anyone confirm if the Santander App is still broken with Android Q Beta 4, please???
Confirmed not working.
