Android sub forum?

I think that the mix in here is good. So we have few tablet threads active but that just makes the place a little more interesting. It seems pointless to split the place up at present. Might be worth having discussion at the end of year to see whether the place has splintered after the tablet invasion.

not bothered really. apple have their own area we pretty much have this forum to ourselves....so a subforum aint gonna change much.

It's fine as it is. Maybe this forum section could be renamed "Mobile devices" if people are genuinely getting confused. As it is it's pretty dumb that Apple products aren't in here too but we all know that certain people want control of their little Apple walled garden.

Agree on both points - these days the convergence of different technologies mean that a there are many mobile 'devices', not just phones.

And i often wonder with iPhones are not in here - doesn't make sense to me (but then again not a lot does these days!)

i think there should be an andriod subforum. Bet its horrible for non android users rumaging through all the Android posts for what they want. Probably why there are so few other phone users posting.

Or even a [TAGLINE] before each post so that viewers can see the subject of each thread

eg:

[ANDROID] Which is the best of these handsets?

[HTC] Unlocking Desire

[SAMSUNG] No Sound on SGS

[iPhone] Crack near headphone socket

Well, you get the idea.

Means at a glance you can scan for the relevant subjects without opening the threads

I think its OK as it is. Although a dedicated Android sub-forum would allow for more granular threads. For example, someone above said its simple to search through a thread for info, but that's only true for small threads. At the moment its a nightmare searching for information in the Desire thread (>14K posts) so it would be nice to have one thread for general Desire stuff, another for Desire ROM's, another for general support/troubleshooting, etc.

Yes im definitely for an Android sub forum....getting fed up of coming here and seeing loads of threads on Android phones...its like they are the new apple of phones

The point is it can then be like android, fragmented and people following their own version within version within versions

The wierd thing is if you look at the Apple Hardware forums its the same - with the release of the iPad2 the mods have started one single thread for it and started to move all threads to that one thread.

Im afraid even if there was a seperate forum for Android if the moderation is the same youll just end up with what you have already.

Also as a side note the Apple forum (used to be only one) has been here way before the iPhone came out - the only change its had was to be spilt into Hardware/Software since it ended up being full of hardware threads...
