Android tablet for kids with case, no Fire Kids!!

Why do you need Kid Space over and above Family Link?

Kid space just makes it easier for the little ones to navigate and it z
Keeps the stuff you don't want them using hidden. But it's not a must.

I turned my boys off after a couple of years as it does take up ram space. And CPU usage. It's ok on powerful tablets, but ones with low ram like my boys it can get a little clunky at times

How you getting on with the tablet?

I launched my boys one this morning and smashed the screen, had a moment of madness where I was trying to get to work, kids screaming missing moaning, then the tablet alarm starts going off after I've told my boy to stop cocking about with it, then the tablet froze with the alarm going off and nothing would shut it up, so it got launched, unfortunately it landed on the corner and smashed the screen, made things worse, life was a bloody mess this morning.

Anyway the screen is proper knackered, half the pixels don't work touch screen doesn't respond, can't even get the flipping thing to turn off.

Anyway I'm determined to get something half decent that doesn't get laggy, pretty certain it was laggy because of only 2gb of ram. (was fine when got it, then got worse as it got used and older also if the storage was full which being only 32gb meant it was full most of the time it became laggy aswell)

Anyway I'm keen to understand if 4gb of ram is sufficient or I should really be looking at more ram.

Still not got around to buying him one, prices seemed to go up as soon as I started looking so I'm going to wait until they come down but haven't looked in a week or two, he's been very poorly and in hospital a lot so it slid down the priority list for now

I do intend to get him one so his younger brother can inherit his because his younger brothers is knackered, cracked screen and battery loses power quicker and takes longer to charge etc plus the frustration of a fire tablet don't matter to him yet

When I get one I'll post back here, hope you get something sorted, might be worth looking at some of the local tech repair shops in your local town that seem to be everywhere these days, they might be able to fix it or have a similar used one in

Ah sorry to hear your boy still poorly.

Regarding repair, unfortunately I've bent the chassis aswell when it got launched, so it definitely can't be repaired.

It's 3 years old though and I been saying it's due an upgrade.

Unfortunately the reviews of android tablets seem to be generally unfavourable unless paying mega money, so im struggling to make a decision. It's the ram amount I'm most concerned about. 2gb is definitely too little.

I've settled on an honor 9 or Xiaomi pad 6

Just can't decide which one, both got 8gb ram, the the Xiaomi has better processing power and marginally better screen.

It's for my boy and will mostly play games,

Not sure which of the 2 to get. Need to make a decision quick as going on holiday in a couple of weeks and he's definitely going to need one for the airport and flight

I ended up settling in the honor pad 9.

I'm actually very impressed with it, it's very fast, loads everything the boy wants on it, Minecraft and Roblox load very quickly, screen is very nice and responsive aswell, literally a million times better than the Lenovo he had before and better than similar priced ones currently available, the sound on it is actually quite impressive for what they are, the face unlock is also very quick.

To top it off it also has kidspace on it which is nice, none of the reviews or the honor website states this as a feature so was a very nice surprise and one that they should shout about a bit more tbh. Cost was £230 on special. So we'll chuffed with it.

We've recently setup the kids with Lenovo tablets - with Google family link it's been fantastic being able to block / track time. Ours are a bit older, so haven't had to force the use of kids space, but we did remove full YouTube access for now.
