If I get an Android 4 tablet, and have all my tens of thousands of photos on a NAS in a nice folder structure, can I, simply, connect to that folder location and browser around them easily?

ie: I'd like an icon on the tablet which I click and instantly go to my root photos folder, where I can then just browse around the photos/folders...

What nas you got? if it's synology then yes..if not search the store for your make of nas.

Oh! Sounds a bit contrived?

In my (current) case we're talking about an XTreamer NAS!?

Why is it NAS specific? Surely it's just an NFS or SMB address?

This shouldn't be a problem, there are many programs out there that should be able to browse, it just depends what kind of interface you want to use.

I would google around to make sure it is compatible though.

Still not confident. Before I spend X hundred pounds I really do want to know I can browse photos off a NAS easily at the click (or two) of a button.

It's got to be girl friend friendly. ie: Click an icon, choose an option, and bingo, your in the root folder of the photos on the NAS and can easily browse around the photos/sub-folders...

Thinking of a Nexus 7 or 10...
