Does anyone know or have experience of a sub £150 Android tablet that you can connect to a TV via HDMI ? or mini-HDMI to HDMI (TV) ?

I've just bought Chromecast thinking this would solve me problem but I am not that impressed with the quality of streaming especially of movies from my Lenovo tablet. Also it depends to some extent on a WiFi connection which is not much good when you are away abroad say as WiFi can vary.

I know you can use your mobile phone to tether/produce a hotspot which would solve it to some extent but there is no substitute for a wired connect to give you excellent quality.

I could get a Surface Pro 3 for about £400 which would be an answer but not sure whether I want to spend that much.

Any suggestions ?

Nvidia Shield K1 has a mini HDMI.

Was going to test it on the TV and see how it went, but after a 10 minute fight to get HDMI plugged into a very tight squeeze on the side of a wall mounted TV, I then realised the other end of the cable was micro:o

You can use other controllers like the ipega pg-9028 (~£20 and has a touch pad too) if you need a controller for TV navigation and don't want to splash out £50 on the Nvidia one.

Should be aware that the tablet is all you get in the box, no charger, micro usb cable or anything, and the newest update-K1 OTA 1.0 can throw a wobbly leaving you without wifi-which mine did, but fixed it by changing the wifi to 2.5Ghz, rebooted Shield/router and was good to go.

Acer Aspire Tab 8 and 10 both have HDMI output and an SD card slot.
Also both Tesco Hudl gens have HDMI output.
Pretty sure all of these are within budget.

I bought the Acer Tab 8 as a cheapo replacement after I dropped and smashed my Nexus 7 and it's been much better then I ever expected it to be. The screen on it is really great and it's got a metal body.
