Android to WP, will I regret it?

My ONE friend..... OK, I'm out, rant about how good your iPhone is all you like. I don't care.

Ha ha ha, this is brilliant. Brenn, you should be a politician.

1. Avoid question
2. Avoid question
3. Avoid question
4. Avoid question
5. Decide to be offended person keeps asking question and leave without answering it

Too funny.

Right now my two windows video's are generating more views than pretty much all my other video's put together and its mainly Windows users upset that I've dared to say anything negative about their devices. I say negative things about Android devices too, but I'm biased as I didn't just say how amazing WIndows phones are.

Were all us Andorid users annoying as this 4 years back :D

I have been using Android for a few years band was given a Windows phone from work. The WP is perfectly functional but nothing else- the OS doesnt have any real flair so I hope you're a fan of their minimalist tile thing they have going on

So yeah, very functional, not quite as functional as Android, but the functions that are there are easier to use.

Less apps.
Seem to have to pay for apps that are free on Google Play.

Android IOS and WP are all pretty usable nowadays. It basically comes down to personal preference.

Metro UI to me just looks plain ugly, cluttered tiles really don't appeal at all. IOS is better but still not to my taste. Android is the cleanest with the best looking design imo. It does suffer with some apps not following design guidelines though, this is improving all the time though.

Also the side by side Brenn keeps posting of WP vs IOS only makes IOS look so bad because of the rainbow wallpaper.

I am a big android fan but do like the windows phones. Note1 is getting on a bit lots of upgrades to be had android or windows

Worst mistake I ever done was move from Android to WP 8.1, I found it awful.

I'm the other way around, from a galaxy S3 to Lumia 920 then a 1020 and there is no going back. Add in WP8.1 and I'm more than happy. WP8 has come on leaps and bounds, it is still improving, needs Google apps, but other than that it is superb and the UI is so well thought out, very slick

I went from Android to WP (HTC One X to Lumia 920). I had the phone for about 2-3 months before I sold it. The issue was nothing to do with the phone but with the lack of applications. I also did not believe I could convert all the services I used with Google to Microsoft. Just not feasible, i.e. Gmail, Maps etc... and now Play Music. WP did not make sense to me.

I think the Lumia device range is pretty impressive, I just wished that they made them for Android.

Nokia 925 is on O2 Refresh at the moment.

Buy it with the £29 / month tariff.

Pay off the Phone Loan within 7 days, and cancel the airtime agreement.

= £144.

However possibility of TopCashBack of £99.75.

Worst case £144 (guaranteed)
Best case £44.25

Free unlocking from O2.

I've had a Lumia 520 since before xmas. Love the speed. Never feels slow. I actually like the look of the GUI.

But the OS is still missing a lot of basic features, especially for the power user. Lots of apps missing and many of the ones that are there are not as good as the IOS/Android versions.

I'm not really a fan of Android, but its much more mature and featured than WP. I'll be going back to it.

I am just bored of android now which is why i think i may move to wp8.1. I also only really use the facebook app, kindle app and the odd game. So where people are all hung up on the app ecosystem i figure they must just install a lot of random stuff that is of no consequence to an average user? What 'must have' apps do you not get on wp8.1?

It's not just about the quantity of apps (though the larger selection, the better). For me it's about the quality of them. I'm used to them working exactly as I want them to and looking good in the process. If you don't really use many apps then it's probably not much of a concern for you. Certainly doesn't mean they're of "no consequence".

Hard to know about 8.1 its not released yet.

A decent browser.
Proper WiFi, Data, Bluetooth toggles.
A live tile that shows more than 3 appointments.
A Mail tile which show you email you've not read.
A decent podcatcher app.
You can't make folders in your photo gallery.
A DNLA app.

For me the bus, train and cycle hire apps which I use for commuting are not a patch on the android versions. Most of them simply don't work. Theres no UPC (cable TV) app. Indeed if a local service has a mobile app, you can be certain theres not a Windows Phone version.
