Just a quicky, had a search on google, either i fail epicly, or i just cant find it

Both me and the GF have had messages today asking to update, have set a reminder for 3 hours time as i wasnt sure wether we would be able to do this when rooted, or if it needs unrooting to let the update run, and then re-rooting after

Cheers :)

In some instances, you can update via OTA when rooted but it requires the following:

  • All /system files to be stock. If you've rooted and installed a modified stock ROM or tweaks, then it will fail. This is because OTAs are usually contain binary patch files, so the files they're patching need to be the files they're expecting to patch.
  • All /system files to be intact. If you've removed some files and the OTA is looking for them and they're not there, it will fail.
  • A stock recovery, although I read something about official CWM 6.x being able to flash OTA files on the Galaxy Nexus (although that's not confirmed).
